Brockport quarterback Joe Germinerio and his teammate, defensive tackle Austin Dean lead the D3football.com 2018 All-East Region team. Germinerio was named East Region Offensive Player of the Year, while Dean was named the East Region Defensive Player of the Year.
RPI coach Ralph Isernia, who led the Engineers to the national quarterfinals, is the East Region Coach of the Year. It’s his first selection as a D3football.com regional Coach of the Year, and the first for RPI.
Germinerio, a junior from Wynantskill, New York, threw for 2,994 yards in 12 games for Brockport, completing 64.3 percent of his passes and throwing 28 touchdowns, with nine interceptions. He has also run for 376 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns.
Dean, a senior from Masonville, New York, recorded 13 tackles for loss, including 6.5 sacks, from his defensive tackle spot for the Golden Eagles. He recorded 49 tackles, 20 of them solo.
The teams, selected in balloting by East Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 328 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 14, in D3football.com’s pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLV.
