Castleton dean of administration Scott Dikeman is pleased to announce that Tony Volpone is the third head coach in the program's history.
He replaces Marc Klatt, who resigned earlier in the offseason after compiling a 12-18 record in three seasons, 1-9 last season.
"To stand out among nearly 200 candidates really speaks to the kind of person Coach Volpone is," said Dikeman, who chaired the search committee.
"There were a lot of candidates who could coach football, but Coach Volpone hits the mark in every area we were looking. He's a great fit and we are excited to get him on campus in time for spring football and hit the ground running."
Volpone has spent the past seven seasons at Endicott as associate head coach and offensive coordinator, and was instrumental in transitioning the program from a three-win team in his first season to a perennial power in the New England region.
"First, I would like to thank President Wolk, Scott Dikeman, Deanna Tyson and members of the search committee for this opportunity," said Volpone. "I'm very anxious to get to work here and get to know the players. I'm also anxious to get to work with the coaches here and most importantly get to know the community and work with it."
In his time at Endicott the offense broke many program records, broke or tied eleven NEFC records, recorded six All-America nominations, three ECAC All-Star selections, 31 All-Conference selections, four Academic All-Americans, two NEFC Rookie of the Year award-winners, and a NEFC and ECAC Player of the Year award-winner.
