After an extensive search, Beloit has named Seth Duerr as its head
football coach, athletic director Peggy Carl announced.
Duerr arrives in Beloit as the Buccaneers' 28th head football coach in the program's 123-year history after two seasons as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Tiffin.
He replaces Chris Brann, who resigned in November following eight seasons as head coach, having compiled a 21-59 record. The Buccaneers had three 1-9 seasons and an 0-10 mark during Brann's tenure.
A native of Bolivar, Ohio, he is a 2000 graduate of Wooster, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry. He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Averett in chemistry, which he earned in 2004.
Duerr was a D3football.com All-America selection in 2000 at linebacker from Wooster.
"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to lead the Beloit College football program," said Duerr. "I am eager to build relationships with the players and continue the recruiting process. I have been extremely impressed with the Beloit College community, and I am excited for my family to become a part of it. It is my goal to consistently recruit high quality student-athletes and help each player in our program reach their full potential."
Prior to Tiffin, Duerr spent seven seasons as the defensive coordinator at Wooster, his alma mater. He also was the defensive line coach at Ohio Northern for one season and was a two-year graduate assistant at Averett, coaching the running backs.

Seth's experience, both as a player and as a coach will serve the Beloit College football program extremely well. He is a tireless recruiter and I'm excited for the future of Beloit football."
Duerr played linebacker at Wooster from 1997-2000. Among the many highlights in his playing career were being a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy, given annually to NCAA Division III's Outstanding Football Player of the Year; twice being named the conference Defensive Player of the Year; and becoming just the fourth player in conference history to earn First Team honors four straight seasons. He was inducted into the Wooster Hall of Fame in 2011.
