CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College football team withstood the Millsaps College attack with a 35-30 victory at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The host Warriors move to 4-0 for the first time in program history and are 2-0 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Majors, who were the league co-champions last year and went 9-1, fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the SAA.

Hendrix opened the scoring on their second drive of the game, using eight plays to cover 52 yards. Sophomore tailback Dayton Winn capped the drive witha one-yard rush to put the Orange & Black on the board.

Millsaps answered with a 26-yard field goal from Beau Brady to start the second quarter. After the kickoff, sophomore quarterback Seth Peters found Ben Luedtke for a 71-yard score down the middle of the field to go up 14-3. The play was the longest from scrimmage since Hendrix brought back the program last year.

Towards the end of the second, the Majors had first-and-10 from the HC10, but Zak Thrasher's pass was picked off by sophomore linebacker Ben Cunningham, giving the Warriors a 14-3 advantage at half.

Hendrix took the opening drive of the third quarter 75 yards on seven plays, which was finished by a 12-yard pass from Peters to Nate Hodapp to go up 21-3. Millsaps used nine plays to go 54-yards and scored on a Raphael Johnson seven-yard run to cute the deficit to 21-10. After a three-and-out for the Warriors, Thrasher found Nick Glover for a 36-yard pass to make the game 21-16 at the 5:34 mark of the third.

Just before the end of the quarter, Peters completed a 50-yard dark to Winn, who was tackled at the one. Winn managed his second score of the game with a run up the middle to give the Warriors a 28-16 cushion.

The teams exchanged lost fumbles in the fourth quarter. Millsaps cut the score to 28-23 with a 24-yard Thrasher pass to Rashad Sims with 1:11 left.

Brady's ensuing onside kick was scooped up by sophomore Jake Steward and returned 46 yards to give the Warriors a 35-23 lead. Millsaps used five plays to go 62 yards, ending with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Johnson with eight seconds left, making it 35-30.

Hendrix recovered the onside kick and took a knee to end the game.

The Warriors ran 72 plays for 464 yards and 6.4 per play average. The Majors had 81 plays for 530 yards and a 6.5 yard average.

Winn finished with 26 carries, 108 yards and two TDs on the ground to go with four catches for 68 yards and a 32-yard punt return. The game was the fourth-consecutive 100-yard  performance for the Pea Ridge, Ark. native. Peters went 17-of-25 passing for 318 yards and two touchdowns.
