THE BASICS:

- The Lead: On Saturday afternoon, the MIT football team picked up its third shutout victory in its last four games with a 20-0 road shutout of Norwich University at Sabine Field. Today's win sets up next week's matchup with Springfield College as both teams will have a chance for at least a share of the NEWMAC Championship.
A LOOK INSIDE THE ACTION:
- After an MIT punt pinned Norwich inside the one-yard line, the Cadets launched a punt of their own that was pulled in at the MIT 42-yard line by sophomore Keithen Shepard (Vancouver, Wash.). From there, Shepard raced up the near sideline for the 58-yard punt return touchdown and the 6-0 advantage with 3:44 on the clock in the first. The return was the longest career return for Shepard and the fifth punt return TD in MIT history.
- The Engineers added to the lead with 6:54 remaining before halftime as freshman Ashton Robinson (Louisville, Ky.) found the end zone from two yards out for his first career touchdown and the 13-0 margin.
- MIT closed out the scoring as junior Eric Bradford (Dublin, Ohio) pulled down a 15-yard touchdown from senior Udgam Goyal (Frisco, Texas) with 6:10 left in the third quarter. That score capped a seven-play, 47-yard drive for the visitors.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Robinson led the MIT offense with 87 rushing yards on 12 attempts, while Aaron Conner was the top rusher for the Cadets with 72 yards on 19 rushes. Manni Romero made four catches for 52 yards for Norwich and Bradford caught a pair for 22 yards for MIT.
- Norwich outgained the Engineers by a 276-177 margin in yards of total offense as MIT gained 154 yards on the ground overall. The majority of the Norwich yards came in the air with 134 passing yards on 15 completions by Matt Dunn.
- MIT is ranked No. 4 in the latest Grinold Chapter New England Division III Football Poll after holding down the No. 1 spot for the previous five weeks.
