Game Summary

  • First Quarter: Dickinson piled up 264 total yards of offense and took advantage of two Gettysburg turnovers to score four touchdowns in the opening quarter. Butler ran 63 yards on the Red Devils' second offensive play and finished off the drive with a one-yard touchdown run. After Graham hooked up with Salamone for a 32-yard score on the visitor's second possession, Butler made it 21-0 with a 66-yard scamper to the end zone late in the quarter. A 47-yard catch by Longo set up another short rushing score by Walsh to complete the scoring.
  • Second Quarter: Gettysburg fired up the crowd to start the second quarter as Lessel picked off a Graham pass. The Bullets were unable to score on the following possession, but the hosts eventually found pay-dirt later in the second quarter, driving 82 yards on nine plays. Edmond completed a 29-yard throw to senior Kevin Benavente (San Diego, Calif./Mt. Carmel) to reach the red zone and three plays later Vass punched it in for his first career score. Gettysburg added a second interception in the quarter as Lessel deflected a pass and Lynch came up with the ball.
  • Third Quarter: Butler turned in another long run early in the third quarter to boost Dickinson's lead to 35-6. After picking up an interception, the Red Devils scored again as Walsh carried the ball six times on an eight-play drive with the last crossing into the end zone.
  • Fourth Quarter: Gettysburg posted a 15-play, 75-yard drive spanning the third and fourth quarters. Welsh started the drive with a 13-yard run and wrapped it up with a one-yard plunge into the end zone. Dickinson converted a rushing touchdown off another turnover before another long drive by the hosts covering 72 yards on 14 plays. Back-to-back penalties on the Red Devils put Gettysburg into the red zone and Edmond capped the possession with a short touchdown run. The Red Devils finished out the scoring with a touchdown run on their final drive.
