The Wesley Wolverines took on the Framingham State University Rams in the first round of NCAA playoffs on Saturday, November 23. The Wolverines pulled off an incredible 58-21 win to advance to round two next weekend.
Marcellus Pack opened scoring for the Wolverines as he returned the opening kickoff for an 84-yard touchdown and 7-0 lead just 11 seconds into the game.
The Wolverines extended that lead with a pair of touchdown passes from freshman Drew Fry to take a 20-0 lead with five minutes left in the first.
Framingham State found their way to the board on their next possession a four yard run.
Wesley scored one more time on a 12 yard pass to Jerrish Halsey to bring the score 27-7 heading into the second.
Six minutes left in the first half, Framingham's Adam Wojenski threw the ball right into the hands of Mike Brewer who completed the 92-yard interception return, increasing the score to 34-7 (extra point good by Nick Bruhn).
On Wesley's next possession, Mike Credle scored on a 38-yard pass from Fry. Nick Bruhn ended scoring in the first half of the game after executing a 44-yard field goal, 44-7.
Fry completed one more 7-yard pass to Mike Credle, 51-7, early in the third quarter.
Framinghams Wojenski threw the ball away again, this time straight in the hands of safety Coray Williams who ran the ball 85-yards to the end zone for a Wolverine touchdown.
Framingham found it in them to score two more times in the fourth quarter to end the game 58-21 Wesley.
Drew Fry completed 24-of-28 passes for 345 yards and five touchdowns. Marcellus Pack led the rushing attack with 61 yards.
Wesley's leading receiver, Mike Credle caught seven passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns. Corterris Simpson caught six passes for 113 yards.
Marcellus Pack also caught two kickoff returns for 134-yards and one touchdown.
Ryan Clemons led the defense with six solo tackles, one assist for a total of seven tackles. Shaq Brittingham tallied 1.5 sacks for eight yards and 2.5 tackles for a loss of 11 yards. Shymere Vessels also had 1.5 sacks for 10 yards and 1.5 tackles for a loss of 10 yards.
The Wolverines now advance to round two of NCAA playoffs as they take on Delaware Valley at home, Saturday, Nov. 30th. Kick-off is scheduled for noon.
The Wolverines and the Aggies are no strangers to each other as they have already had a quadruple overtime battle earlier this season. Wesley persevered and came out on top, 24-18.
