Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles defeated Geneva (PA) in convincing fashion to be crowned the 2025 ECAC Scotty Whitelaw Bowl Champions. Brockport claims its second ECAC Championship in a row, concluding the season at 7-4 overall with a 46-10 win over Geneva.
After receiving the opening kickoff, Geneva put three points on the board in the opening drive. The Golden Tornadoes took a 3-0 lead thanks to a 32-yard field goal from Ryan Reitler. However, their lead would last less than a minute and it would be their last lead of the contest.
Brockport's first offensive snap was a 9-yard pass play from Ben Gocella to Daniel Manneh. The second snap saw Isaiah Simmons sprint 65 yards to score his first touchdown of the day. Zach McGowan's extra point gave Brockport the 7-3 lead in the first quarter.
Going into the second quarter still with a 7-3 advantage, the Golden Eagles quickly blew the game open. They outscored Geneva 25-0 in the quarter to take a 32-3 lead into halftime. Brockport added to the scoreboard in the second with a 16-yard rushing touchdown from Isaiah Simmons to start it off.
Brockport then got a plus two to the tally after a Geneva fumble resulted in a safety. The offense scored again quickly after the safety. Gocella found Manneh for a 20-yard touchdown. McGowan added three more with a 36-yard kick for the squad. Gocella found Luke Lockhart for a 23-yard touchdown right before halftime to make it a 29-point lead.
The Golden Eagles got the ball to start the second half and Simmons found the endzone once again. This time he broke free for a 48-yard rushing score to give the team a 39-3 lead. Simmons wasn't done yet, as he scored his fourth touchdown of the day later in the third. A 14-yard score put Brockport at a 46-3 lead going into the fourth.
Geneva was able to get in the endzone late in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Jace Saunders to Makuei Dau. Reitler's extra point created the final score of 46-10 for the day.
Isaiah Simmons set a career-high with 271 rushing yards and tied his career-best mark with four touchdowns. On 21 carries, Simmons averaged 12.9 yards per carry for the game. He completes an incredible 2025 campaign with career-highs of 1,609 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns.
Brockport finished its season with a season-high 366 rushing yards on the way to 466 yards of total offense. Ben Gocella completed 8-of-14 passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Zymier Jackson was 2-for-3 with 12 yards passing, while also rushing for 43 yards on eight carries.
The Golden Eagles were dominant defensively on Saturday, allowing just 99 total yards of offense to the visiting Golden Tornadoes. It was the lowest total yards and rushing yards this defense allowed all season. On 40 rushing attempts, Geneva lost 29 yards in the ground game. The offense threw for 128 yards on the day.
Both Brady Winter and Jayson Thomas forced a fumble, with Vincent Pisa recovering one for the lone Brockport takeaway. Jayden Ferrell had a monster day, totaling nine tackles with 3.0 sacks. Thomas finished with seven tackles, 3.5 for a loss, and 1.5 sacks. Winter made nine tackles in the contest with five solo stops.
Brockport celebrates its ninth straight year of postseason play with a second consecutive ECAC Bowl Game Championship.
