Games of Sept. 15-16, 2000

Offense

QB Jason Lee, DePauw
Lee set five single-game school records: completions (41), attempts (72) passing yards (486), total offensive plays and total offense yards. The junior rallied DePauw from a 17-point fourth quarter deficit to force overtime with 200 passing yards in the fourth quarter alone against Hope.

OL Chad Loveland, Dwayne Wright, Geno Ochap, Tony Moranelli, Justin Crothers; Bethany
The Bethany offensive line helped fullback Will Anderson (132) and  halfback Brandon Isbell (129) post 100-yard games in Bethany's 27-16 win agianst Carnegie Mellon. It's the second game this year that the Bison have had two rushers go over 100 yards in the same game and the second time Bethany has rushed for more than 290 yards in a game as a team this year.

RB Adam Wallace, Grinnell
Wallace set a school record for single-game rushing yards with 245 yards on 39 carries as Grinnell beat Beloit 30-20. The sophomore caught one touchdown and ran for two, including a 2- yard score with 1:14 left that iced the game for the Pioneers. Wallace gained 298 all-purpose yards in the game.

RB Will Anderson, Bethany
The sophomore ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and caught two passes for 14 yards and another TD in Bethany's 27-16 victory against No. 19 Carnegie Mellon. His TD runs covered 30 and 20 yards and his scoring reception came from 11 yards out.

WR Jim Jones, Widener
Jones caught five passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, including a long of 47 to help Widener beat Lycoming 50-49 in double overtime. It was his second consecutive game and seventh of his career with at least 100 yards receiving. It Widener's first victory against the Warriors since 1988. 

WR Nathan Tuck, Emory and Henry
The senior led the Wasps to a 37-35 victory against Bridgewater. He recorded 11 pass receptions for 253 yards and three touchdowns. The 253 yards broke a 32-year old school record. Tuck also tied a Wasp record with three touchdown receptions. 

WR Kyle Brown, Pacific Lutheran
The sophomore had nine catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns against Simon Fraser. The two touchdowns were 50 and 56 yards.

Defense

DL Jeff Darnauer, Wheaton
The sophomore used his 6-5, 255-pound frame to knock down five Wabash passes from his left defensive tackle post, including two deflections in a key Little Giant drive late in the four quarter to help lead Wheaton to a 17-14 win at home against Wabash.

DL Mike Mills, Bethany
The freshman had eight tackles, including seven solos, 1½ sacks, batted down a pass in Bethany's 27-16 win at Carnegie Mellon. His sack and  forced fumble that the Bison recovered with 5 minutes to play sealed  Bethany's seventh consecutive win, dating back to last year.

DL Greg Bruns, Bluffton
Bruns helped lead Bluffton to a 40-19 win against Thiel as he recorded 10 tackles, including two behind the line of scrimmage. The senior also recovered a fumble as Bluffton held Thiel to just 245 yards in total offense.

LB Seth Duerr, Wooster
Led Wooster to a 27-7 win against Grove City, topping the team in tackles with 14, including 11 solo stops. Anchored a defensive unit that held R.J. Bowers to 149 yards and kept him from breaking the NCAA Division III all-time rushing mark on Wooster's home turf. He also registered his fourth career fumble recovery

LB Ron Swearingin, Capital
The freshman was the primary run-stopper on Crusader defense that allowed Heidelberg minus-13 yards rushing on 29 carries in a 37-7 Capital win Had three sacks for minus-11 yards, seven tackles and one interception returned for 31 yards.

LB Brian Bergstrom, Gustavus Adolphus
Bergstrom recorded 17 tackles including two sacks while also recovering a fumble and returning it for a touchdown as the Gusties beat Hamline 32-15. The junior sparked a Gustavus defensive attack that held Hamline to 57 yards rushing on 45 carries.

LB Ryan Moore, Gettysburg
Moore again led the Bullets with 13 tackles in Gettysburg's 45-27 loss to Western Maryland while returning an interception 41 yards for a touchdown. The junior also recorded two tackles for a total of six yards lost and broke up a pass.

DB Antonio Nash, Susquehanna
Nash made a career-high 13 tackles as the Crusaders held off King's  26-23. He added his first interception of the season after leading the MAC and tying a school record with 10 INTs as a freshman.

DB Randy VanTilburg, Ohio Northern
Had an all-around day registering four tackles, two interceptions for 57 yards, and one sack for 6 yards lost.

DB Ben Matthews, Bethel
Matthews had two interceptions for the second consecutive week. The senior also added five solo tackles and two pass breakups for the 2-0 Royals.

DB Will Baker, Washington and Lee
Spearheaded a W&L defense that allowed just 156 yards of total offense against the Quakers. On the day, he recorded five tackles, one interception which he returned 27 yards, a sack and two pass breakups.

Special teams

K Roman Natoli, Chicago
The junior set a school record with 12 kicking points, a perfect 3-for-3 on PATs and field goals, hitting from 26, 26, and 34 yards out.

P P.J. Hickey, Westminster (Mo.)
The freshman got a lot of experience in one week, while punting a team-record 13 times. Four of those punts pinned Greenville inside its own 15-yard line. He had an average of 41.3 yards per punt with a long of 48.

RET Eric Fette, Thomas More
The junior returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown and had a second interception in the game to spark the Saints in their upset of Hanover.
