The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 24th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are nominated by schools.

Offense

QB Zac Boyes, So., Cortland

Boyes, in his first start as a Red Dragon after serving as a backup last year, set a school single-game record with 543 passing yards in Cortland's 48-28 win over visiting Wittenberg. He completed 22 of 30 passes with four touchdowns covering 90, 80, 49 and 3 yards. He broke the previous school record of 487 yards and finished 36 yards shy of the Empire 8 record.

OL Lou Cocozza, Cam Borges, Vinny Ruggiero, Jon Weber, Chris Eichler, Springfield

Springfield's offensive line paved the way for an impressive season-opening performance as the Pride stormed past Western New England, 42-14, in the annual Pynchon SAW Game. Springfield racked up 506 yards of total offense, 34 first downs, went 8-for-14 on third down and 2-for-3 on fourth down. The Pride held the ball for 37:13 and six players rushed for touchdowns in the victory.

RB Daniel Papantonis, Jr., Rochester

Papantonis had a record-breaking day in Saturday's loss at Utica. He piled up a school record 309 yards rushing, adding a career-high four touchdowns in the 43-28 defeat. Papantonis got off to a lightning quick start, taking his first two carries for scores, running 92 and 88 yards, recording two of the four longest runs in school history. He added 44-yard and 17-yard touchdown runs and ended the day with UR record 17.2 yards per carry (18 attempts). He also chipped in a 22-yard reception in the game, finishing with 331 yards.

RB Cornell Beachem Jr., Sr., Mount St. Joseph

Beachem had a roaring return to the gridiron after a 30 month absence, having missed the past two seasons due to injury and the COVID season. He put together a monster performance in the Lions 31-28 win over Baldwin Wallace. He carried the ball 22 times for 130 yards, adding 8 receptions for 131 yards. Including return yards he had an MSJ record 342 all-purpose yards in the win.

WR Ryan Neu, Jr., Central
